Braves Edge Fireflies 3-2

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Columbia Fireflies Monday Night at State Mutual Stadium by a 3-2 final before a sold out crowd of 5,105 fans.

Rome scratched the scoreboard first in the third inning with a run on an RBI single by Cristian Pache that plated Anfernee Seymour. The Braves added another run in the fourth after a Randy Ventura single scored Tanner Murphy, who doubled to leadoff the inning. The Fireflies got one back in the fifth when Tim Tebow scored on a throwing error by Juan Yepez to trim the lead to one. The Braves added an insurance run in the ninth off of a wild pitch scoring pinch runner Marcus Mooney. That proved to be the difference after the Fireflies added a run in the bottom half before a game ending strikeout which gave the Braves a 3-2 victory.

Adam McCreery (1-0) gets the win for Rome while Columbia starter Blake Taylor (0-2) is tagged with the loss. Tebow finished the game 1-4 with a run scored.
