Worcester Bravehearts News Release

BRISTOL, Conn. - Down in Bristol, Connecticut at Muzzy Field, the Worcester Bravehearts and the Bristol Blues were having a sale: FREE BASEBALL. As the game went late into the night and extra innings kept piling up, the Bravehearts finally broke through and held on to win a wild one, 2-1 in fourteen innings.

Worcester's Frankie Moscatiello (St. Thomas Aquinas/Rocky Point, N.Y.) was pitching lights out baseball once again, as he held up his end of the bargain for the Bravehearts. He went six scoreless innings on the road, giving up two hits and four walks while striking out six batters. Moscatiello also set the consecutive shutout inning streak for the Worcester Bravehearts with 18 2/3 innings, dating back to last season.

On the bump for the home team, Bristol's Teddy Carey (Babson/Upton, MA) was right with Moscatiello pitch for pitch, as he also went six innings of scoreless ball, allowing six hits and walking just one and striking out three Bravehearts batters. Both pitchers did not factor in the decision.

Both bullpens were stellar, keeping each team at bay offensively. That is, until the twelfth inning of the game. Worcester scored the game's first run on a Bristol wild pitch, which scored Chad Miller (Saint Leo/Sarasota, FL) to give the Bravehearts the 1-0 lead. This would not last long though.

Bristol came right back with the pressure on in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 1- 1. Bristol's Brandon Grover (Bentley/Rocky Hill, CT) drove in the run on an RBI single off of Bravhearts pitcher Peter Bovenzi (Richmond/Lunenburg, MA).

The Bravehearts, however, showed their grit. After Bristol pitcher Mike Munson (Post/Plainville, CT) gave up the go-ahead run in the 12th on a wild pitch, he followed up in the 14th inning with a pass ball, which scored who else but Chad Miller again, giving Worcester the 2-1 lead.
