Brampton Beast News Release

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John's IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, are proud to announce an exciting partnership with the William Osler Health System Foundation.

The Beast will donate $25,000 to the William Osler Health System Foundation to assist in the creation and outfitting of a pediatric unit to help improve the quality of life for sick children in Peel region.

This five-year agreement stretches far beyond the amount of money to be raised.

The Brampton Beast are committed to not only raising $25,000, but are also devoted to giving their time to visit the children who are dealing with unexpected life challenges.

Both the Beast and the team's mascot Boomer are dedicated to truly making a difference in the lives of these children with numerous hospital visits and other surprises scheduled throughout the season and into the offseason.

As a part of this long-term partnership, the William Osler Health System Foundation will also be provided with the opportunity for their staff and partnering organizations to attend Beast hockey games throughout the season.

One member of the Beast hockey club has taken his commitment one step further. Goaltender Bryan Pitton, who re-signed with the club earlier today, has started his own player charity program, "Pitton's Saves For Kids in Support of the William Osler Health System Foundation".

Through his program, Pitton, a Brampton native, pledges to donate one dollar for every save he makes while tending goal for the Beast this season and is requesting that Beast fans, Brampton residents and local businesses pledge along with him and help improve the lives of these sick children.

Beast President and General Manager Cary Kaplan knows that every player in the Beast dressing room and every staff member in the Beast office is excited to partner with such a significant community organization.

"This represents a very significant partnership for the Brampton Beast and we are thrilled that we are able to enhance the relationship we have with the William Osler Health System," Kaplan said.

"It was obvious to us that the William Osler Health System is a vital pillar in the community in Brampton and what they do help so many people on a day-to-day, month-to-month and year-to-year basis is immeasurable. As a hockey team, the fact that we can play a small part in working closely with them is something that we are proud of and we would like to thank them for this opportunity."

Shelagh Barry is the William Osler Health Foundation's Director of Community Giving and is thrilled to join forces with the Brampton Beast to make a real difference in the lives of these afflicted children and families.

"We are extremely excited to be partnering with the Brampton Beast on this initiative," Barry said. "The Beast have been a huge supporter of William Osler over the last three years and we are looking forward to growing that relationship."
