Brahmas Hold on Late, Top Rush 2-1

RAPID CITY, South Dakota (November 16) - The Brahmas (3-5-2) earned their first road win of the season Friday night as they defeated the Rapid City Rush 2-1 behind a strong defensive performance.

Tomas Klempa gave Fort Worth an early 1-0 lead at the 9:03 mark of the first period as he snuck a back-handed shot by Rapid City netminder Tim Boron. For Klempa, it was his second goal of the season.

The Brahmas held a 1-0 lead through the second period and deep into the third when the team.s leading scorer Phil Fox added a score at 12:53 of the final frame. Fox.s fourth goal of the season would be prove to be important, as the Rush fought back late in regulation.

With less than two minutes remaining in the third period, Rapid City forward Rusty Masters took a pass from Jarret Konkle and scored to cut the Brahmas lead in half. But the Fort Worth defense stood strong and held the advantage to earn its third victory of the season.

Fox.s late goal, which padded a lead midway through the third period, served as the game-winner.

Brad Fogal (3-3-1) earned the victory behind a masterful performance between the posts for Fort Worth, stopping 22 of 23 Rapid City shots and holding the Rush scoreless for the first 58:10 of the game. Boron made 21 saves on 23 shots fired by the Brahmas, taking the loss to fall to 5-3-0 on the season.

The Brahmas pick up their first road win of the 2012-2013 campaign after dropping their first four games away from home to begin the season. Fort Worth continues its current road trip Saturday night when they face off against the Denver Cutthroats at the Denver Coliseum for the third matchup between the two teams this year.

The Brahmas return to the NYTEX Sports Centre Wednesday, November 21 at 7:00pm to take on the Quad City Mallards.
