Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, Calif. - Bobby Boyd blasted a three-run homer to cap a seven-run rally in the seventh inning, as the Lancaster JetHawks knocked off the Lake Elsinore Storm on Monday night at the Hangar, 7-6.

Boyd, a Cal League All-Star, was the first batter his All-Star teammate Colby Blueberg came on to face. It was Boyd's ninth home run of the season and it came on a 2-0 pitch.

Blueberg was the third relief pitcher of the inning to work for Lake Elsinore. Trevor Seidenberger and Gerardo Reyes were each charged with three earned runs. Reyes (0-2) took the loss.

The big rally began with a base hit into center by Drew Ferguson. Osvaldo Duarte, who had three hits in the contest, delivered an RBI single. Brooks Marlow snapped an 0-for-29 skid with a two-run double.

Brett Kennedy started for Lake Elsinore and tossed six shutout innings, but had to leave after throwing 93 pitches. The right-hander gave up three hits, walked two, and struck out five.

Scott Weathersby (5-5) earned the win for the JetHawks and surrendered only one run in 3.2 innings. He struck out three. Brock Dykxhoorn went the first 4.1 innings and allowed three runs on six hits, striking out five and walking three.

Lake Elsinore hit four home runs in the contest, however, three were solo shots. Edwin Moreno opened the game with a homer, Ty France added one of his own to lead off the seventh inning. Fernando Perez hit two home runs, the second of which came against Lancaster closer Jacob Dorris in the ninth inning.

Dorris hung on to convert his ninth save in as many opportunities, striking out one. The JetHawks are now 4.5 games ahead of Lake Elsinore in the second half standings.

The JetHawks (60-47) and Storm (53-55) continue their three-game series on Tuesday night at The Hangar.

Josh James (8-3) will start for Lancaster against Chris Huffman (9-4). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.

The JetHawks are celebrating their 20th anniversary season in Lancaster. Great ticket packages and group events are on sale now at jethawks.com or by calling (661) 726-5400.
