Bowie's Robbie Widlansky Named June Player of the Month

Portland, ME The Eastern League is pleased to announce that Bowie Baysox outfielder and first baseman Robbie Widlansky has been named the Eastern League Player of the Month for the month of June. Robbie batted .407 (35-for-86) with 10 doubles, two home runs, 21 RBI, 18 runs scored, four stolen bases, a .523 on-base percentage and a .593 slugging percentage in 24 games while leading the Baysox to a league-best 19-8 record during the month. The 27-year old reached base in all 24 games he played in during the month, had nine multiple hit games and drove in or scored at least one run in 17 games. He currently has reached base in 29 consecutive games for the Baysox, which is the third longest streak in the Eastern League this season and is the longest active streak in the league. Widlansky, who is a native of Plantation, Florida, led all Eastern League players in batting average (.407), on-base percentage (.523), OPS (1.116) and walks (22) last month. He also finished ranked among the monthly league leaders in doubles (10-tied 1st), hits (35-tied 4th), extra-base hits (12-tied 4th), slugging percentage (.593-5th), RBI (21-tied 5th), total bases (51-tied 7th) and runs scored (18-tied 9th).
The 6'2", 210 lb. slugger raised his batting average over 50 points with his performance in May and he is currently batting .304 (82-for-270) with 21 doubles, four home runs, 50 RBI and 37 runs scored in 75 games for the Baysox this season. He is currently ranked fifth in the league in RBI (50), walks (41) and on-base percentage (.400) and is tied for fifth in doubles (21).
Robbie was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 11th round of the 2007 draft after hitting .433 (104-for-240) with 24 doubles, 15 homers, 69 RBI, 61 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 58 games while being named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year during his senior season at Florida Atlantic University.
