Harrisburg Senators News Release

Sunday afternoon the Senators and Bowie Baysox played an old-fashioned slugfest that found Bowie finishing on top 8-7. The teams combined for 15 runs and 31 hits as both offenses were on fire at Metro Bank Park.

Three different times on Sunday the Senators had leads of two runs but each time Bowie battled back to tie the game and eventually took the lead in the seventh inning. The Sens had chances late putting the tying run in scoring position in each of the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings.

Stephen King had a pair of two-run singles for the Senators, the first of which gave Harrisburg a 3-1 lead, the second one giving the Sens a 7-5 lead in the fifth. Jesus Valdez had four hits in the loss for the Senators, the first four-hit game on the season for the Sens. Destin Hood, Chris Rahl, Devin Ivany and King all had two hits for Harrisburg. Every Sens starter except Jose Lozada had a hit on Sunday.

Eury Perez broke an 0 for 18 streak with a two-run double in the fourth inning that gave Harrisburg a 5-3 lead.

Jeff Mandel started for the Sens and last 5.2 innings before giving way to Ryan Tatusko, the eventual losing pitcher. Pat McCoy and Hector Nelo also pitched in the game.

Robbie Widlanksy had a four-hit game for Bowie including a home run and he drove in four runs.

The series with Bowie marks the first series this year the Sens failed to split or win.

On Monday night the Senators begin a four-game series with the New Britain Rock Cats with LH Danny Rosenbaum on the mound for the Senators. Game time on Monday is at 7:00 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, and on the Internet through the Senators website and on iHeart Radio which is available on all mobile devices.
