Elmira Jackals News Release

ELMIRA, N.Y. - February 22, 2013 - The Elmira Jackals announced today that goaltender Marc Cheverie has been recalled from his loan by the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League. Additionally, forward Jean Bourbeau has been loaned to Binghamton.

Cheverie was returned on loan to the Jackals by Binghamton yesterday, but he has been recalled as a result of Craig Anderson's ankle injury in the Ottawa Senators' game last night against the New York Rangers. The third year pro out of the University of Denver picked up his first AHL win of the season on February 17 with 35 saves in a shootout win over Albany. He is 1-1-0 on the season with a 2.90 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage for Binghamton.

Cheverie has won each of his last three starts with Elmira dating back to January sixth, including a 25-save shutout over Wheeling on February 10. That was his third shutout of the season and set a new Jackals ECHL single-season record. He is 11-9-1 overall for the Jackals with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage.

Bourbeau, the Jackals' captain, is making his first trip to the AHL this season. He has 48 AHL games, three goals, and five assists under his belt in five years as a pro. Forty seven of those 48 games were played for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers between the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons, and he also appeared in one game for the Adirondack Phantoms last year.

Bourbeau departs as the second-leading goal scorer on the team. In his second year with the Jackals the 6-0, 200-pound winger has generated career highs in goals (17), assists (17), and points (34). Through last Monday's game Bourbeau was one of three Jackals, along with Jordan Pietrus and Rob Bellamy, to appear in all 52 of the team's games.
