February 2, 2018 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Boston Cannons News Release

Boston, MA - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) have announced the date and keynote speaker for their 3rd Annual Coaches Symposium presented by St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. This coaching event will be held at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts on Sunday, March 25th of 2018 with the keynote speaker being Boston Cannons Associate Head Coach, Dom Starsia.

"Dom is a legend," Team President Ian Frenette stated. "And I think his compassion for the game, and importance for teaching from the heart makes his knowledge very impactful to many people."

"Having Coach Starsia as the keynote speaker at this year's Boston Cannons Coaches Symposium will be extraordinary," stated Cannons Head Coach, Sean Quirk. "Most impressively to me is the foundation and culture that Dom has created within his programs and the respect his players have for him. The coaches attending the symposium are guaranteed to walk away with many take-aways that they can implement into their coaching philosophy and program."

Starsia, whose legendary coaching resume includes 375 victories, four NCAA Championships and a selection to the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, has joined Coach Quirk and the Cannons coaching staff as an adviser this off-season.

"I am excited to be working with the Cannons this spring and look forward to meeting with the coaches at the 2018 Symposium," Starsia said. "It is a joy for me to come back to New England and my roots in the game."

In joining the Cannons, Starsia is returning to his extensive Boston and New England roots. In 1981, Starsia was inducted into the Brown University Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1996, he was inducted into the New England Lacrosse Hall of Fame in Newton, Massachusetts. In 2000, he was named to the Brown University's "Team of the Millennium" and was chosen one of Brown's "Top 100 Athletes of the Twentieth Century." Starsia was also inducted in to the inaugural class of the Rhode Island Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2016. In 2008, Starsia was later inducted to the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2008 in Baltimore, MD. Starsia will take the stage leading off our Coaches Symposium in the Post Center on Endicott College's campus.

"My remarks will focus on Leadership and the Requirements for Winning, as it specifically applies to lacrosse," Starsia said when asked about his focus points for this year's symposium. "We will be talking about a variety of topics throughout the session and the coaches should be prepared to ask us to address any of particular interest."
