Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The NHL's Boston Bruins announced Tuesday that they have signed Chicago Steel goaltender Daniel Vladar to a three-year entry-level contract. Vladar, 18, was originally selected by the Bruins in the third round (75th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. The Prague, Czech Republic native's contract begins with the 2016-2017 NHL season.

The 6-foot-6, 185-pound netminder appeared in 30 games this season with the Steel, posting a record of 12-12-1-3 while ranking in the top five in the United States Hockey League in both Goals Against Average (2.31) and Save Percentage (.920). Vladar posted three shutouts during the season and was victorious in each of his final three USHL starts. He was named CCM/USHL Goaltender of the Week on two occasions: Nov. 28, 2015 and March 12, 2016.

"We are thrilled for Daniel in reaching his goal of signing an NHL contract," said Steel Head Coach Dan Muse. "This was a dream of his when he came into our organization and the USHL. He worked very hard each day with Assistant Coach Peter Mannino to take his game to the next level. It was a pleasure to have had him in our organization and we look forward to watching him as he starts the next chapter of his career."

Vladar was selected by the Steel in the first round (seventh overall) of the 2015 USHL Phase II Draft after competing for HC Kladno in the Czech Republic.
