Border Cats Topped by Blue Anchors

The Alexandria Blue Anchors pushed across two runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to upend the Border Cats 9-7 Tuesday night at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.

The Cats let an early 3-0 lead slip away as the Blue Anchors scored five times in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Thunder Bay then trailed 7-4, but tied the game on a three-run home run in the top of the 5th inning by Tyler Duplantis, his fourth of the season. Duplantis (Nicholls State University) finished the night 2-4 with four runs batted in and a run scored. Jason Vosler (Northeastern University) hit a solo home run in the 3rd inning, his third of the season. Ty Stetson (Murray State University) and Dylan Goodwin (Central Michigan University) both doubled and collected two hits in the loss as the Cats first half record slipped to 13-21.

Anthony Pastrana (Dominican College) started for the Cats and lasted 3 2/3 innings. The righthander allowed seven runs on seven hits. Daniel Stoney (Madonna University) gave up three hits and two runs in relief to take the loss, dropping his record to 1-2.

The Cats and Blue Anchors meet for the fifth straight time tonight as the two teams close out the first half of the regular season at 8:05pm ET. Thunder Bay opens the second half of the schedule at home Thursday against the Mankato MoonDogs at 7:05pm.
