Boomers Re-Sign Ruchim; Add Mead, Mulry, and Rodriguez

SCHAUMBURG, IL - The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, have re-signed OF Kyle Ruchim and have added RHP David Meade, LHP James Mulry, and IF Ryan Rodriguez to the roster for the upcoming 2018 season.

Ruchim, 25, will return for his third season with the Boomers. The outfielder batted .315 in 2017 which was tied for fourth on the team, while also leading the team in runs scored (83) and doubles (22). The Boomers leadoff hitter notched 115 hits in 2017, which was tied for fourth in the Frontier League all while taking classes at DePaul where he is currently pursuing his law degree. The Buffalo Grove, IL native helped the Boomers secure their third Frontier League title batting .313 with 10 hits and 6 RBI's in the 2017 playoffs. Ruchim debuted for the Boomers in 2015 where he batted .304 with 66 hits and was second on the team with 18 doubles. In 2016 the Chicago White Sox organization signed Ruchim where he spent time with the Kannapolis Intimidators in the Single-A South Atlantic League appearing in 11 games.

Meade, 23, will be making his Boomers debut this upcoming 2018 season. The right hander has been playing the California Winter League this offseason and has appeared in 10 games for the Manitoba North Stars. He is currently 2-2 with a 3.85 ERA and one save to go along with 18 strikeouts in 16.1 innings of work. The Antioch, IL native attended College of Lake County for his first two years of his collegiate career before transferring to Illinois State University. He posted a 6-2 with a 2.78 ERA with 67 strikeouts as a sophomore on his way to being named Skyway Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year. At Illinois State Meade had a career stat line of 2-6 with a 6.15 ERA and 17 saves to go with 81 strikeouts in 89.0 IP. Meade also pitched for the Battle Creek Bombers and the Kenosha Kingfish of the Northwoods League at the beginning of his collegiate career.

Mulry, 23, pitched for the Ottawa Champions of the Can-Am League in 2017 where he appeared in 12 games with a 1-0 record pitching 13.2 innings with 14 strikeouts. Prior to playing for Ottawa the Boston, MA native attended Northeastern University where he started 44 games and had a record 11-21 with a 4.97 ERA and striking out 195 batters in 227.1 innings.

Rodriguez, 24, will also be making his Boomers debut this upcoming 2018 season. The Folsom, CA native recently played for the Vallejo Admirals of the Pacific Association in 2017 where he hit .236 with 17 hits in 27 games. The 6-4, 220lb first baseman started his collegiate career at Butte Community College in California where he hit .416 with 43 RBI's, and led the team with 62 hits in 38 games his sophomore year on his way to being named Rawlings/ABCA All-American and a unanimous first-team All-Golden Valley Conference selection. After transferring to Dixie State University his junior year, Rodriguez hit a career .341 average and collected 70 hits and 52 RBI's in 68 games in his two year playing career at Dixie State.

The Boomers 2018 season, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, begins May 11. The Home Opener is Tuesday, May 15 vs. Southern Illinois.
