Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers added some quickness on both sides of the ball today with the signing of wide receiver Adrian Madise and corner back Lawrence Richardson.

As per team policy, terms of the deals were not released.

Madise (5-11, 215, Texas Christian '03 DOB: March 23, 1980 in Lancaster, Texas) was on the Tennessee Titans' practice roster in 2005, but did not see any regular season action with the NFL squad. He also spent time on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice roster in 2004.

The Texas product was originally drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round (158th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft. He appeared in 11 games with the Broncos that season, registering two receptions for 10 yards and five kick returns for 137 yards. He also rushed the ball once for Denver.

Madise was something of an unknown when he arrived at Texas Christian University, but quickly established himself as a go-to receiver. In 2001, despite not joining the team until August, he led the team in both receptions (50) and receiving yards (819). His 819 yards ranked fourth on TCU's all-time single season receiving yards list.

"Adrian Madise has all the tools to be a legitimate CFL player," said Blue Bombers G.M. Brendan Taman. "He has outstanding quickness, he can make the tough catch and he makes people miss on kick and punt returns."

Richardson was a teammate of Bombers defensive end Gavin Walls and Seattle Seahawks' defensive back Ken Hamlin at Arkansas. He started 34 straight games for the Razorbacks, recording 97 solo tackles, two quarterback sacks, three tackles for losses, seven interceptions and two forced fumbles. He added another 430 yards and a TD on 19 kickoff returns.

The ball-hawking defensive back had seven career interceptions with the Razorbacks and was considered one of the SEC's top DBs. He was also a top return man at Arkansas and played in the 2004 East-West Shrine Game.

Richardson (5-9, 183, Arkansas '03 DOB: June 17, 1981 in Galveston, Texas) spent the 2005 season with the Hamburg Sea Dogs of NFL Europe. He was originally signed by the NFL's Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2004.

"Lawrence Richardson has the speed and versatility to be a solid contributor to our defensive secondary," Taman said. "With his speed and football savvy we feel that he should be able to pick up the Canadian game very quickly."
