Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

La Crosse, Wis. - Mike Mancuso (W, 1-0) went 5.1 innings and did not allow a run as the Battle Creek Bombers (9-6) took down the first place La Crosse Loggers (10-6) to salvage a series split, 4-3 on Thursday night.

Joe Serrano delivered a two-RBI double in the top of the third as a part of a three-run inning. The Bombers got their other two runs on two of La Crosse's four errors including a critical ninth inning insurance run that put the Bombers up 4-0.

The Loggers fought back against Brian Heldman in the bottom of the ninth inning, scoring three runs on four hits. Heldman struck out Wednesday night's hero Johnny Bekakis looking to end the game with the tying and go-ahead runners on base.

Loggers' starter Josh Frye (L, 0-2) went seven innings and only ran into trouble in the third. He struck out seven and allowed just five hits. Rouric Bridgewater collected three hits including a double in the eighth inning in his third game with Battle Creek.

The Bombers head to Lakeshore for a three game series starting Friday where Alex Tukey will take the mound against the Chinooks. First pitch is set for 8:05 ET.
