Anaheim Bolts News Release

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Having been eliminated from playoff contention and featuring mostly players expected to make an impact in the future, the Anaheim Bolts fell 20-5 to one of the favorites to win the 2012-13 PASL crown, the Las Vegas Legends, on Sunday. While Bolts attacking ace Adriano de Lima bagged a hat-trick in the contest, Legends star and former Bolts forward Enrique Tovar made history by breaking the PASL record for most assists in a single season.

Tovar powered the convincing Las Vegas victory with a total of 3 goals and 5 assists. His teammate Franck Tayou had four tallies in the match, and Legends midfielder Ricardo Sobreira also had a strong showing with 2 goals and 3 assists.

The experimental lineup fielded by the Bolts was outmatched by the well-oiled Las Vegas scoring machine from the game's opening quarter, as the visitors quickly jumped out to a 4-0 lead, Sobreira, Felipe Gonzalez, Berto Garcia and Rigo Garcia all finding the net. Gonzalez provided one of the day's best strikes when his right-footed curler left goalkeeper Kaji without a chance. The memorable moment was followed by a spectacular tally from Rigo Garcia, who blasted a rocket just under the crossbar.

The Legends continued their dominance in the second period, which they won 5-1 for a 9-1 overall advantage. Las Vegas ' Sobreira, Rodrigo Barbiratos and Ivan Simental fired home before teammate Tovar rounded out the quarter with a brace. Garr Persson had the only tally for the hosts.

Barbaritos' beautiful finish into the upper ninety was matched in quality by Persson's strike, the defender finding the roof of the net with a thunderous effort on an Anaheim free-kick. Tovar had a highlight-reel goal of his own, as he added his name to the score sheet on an opposition powerplay.

The Bolts played their best soccer of the night early in the third quarter, star striker De Lima making his presence felt with a hat-trick. However, Las Vegas did well to respond to each of the Brazilian's tallies with a goal of its own, as Everton Cestari, Tovar and Gonzalez scored for the visitors, who subsequently struck four more times for a 17-4 lead at the end of the period.

While the Legends' Cestari and Gonzalez both scored on Anaheim powerplays, De Lima had the game's most spectacular tally, his brilliant chip from well outside the penalty area sailing over the head of opposition netminder Zeke Sanchez and into the net.

The fans inside Bolts Arena saw a 3-1 Las Vegas run in the closing quarter. Franck Tayou had a brace and teammate Cestari also bagged a goal, with Persson firing home for Anaheim . Tayou showed all his class on his first strike, as he muscled off two defenders inside the box before turning and sliding the ball past the helpless Kaji.

Orange County's professional indoor soccer team is preparing for what promises to be a busy offseason full of exciting projects, appearances and competitive soccer. Fans should stay tuned to the team's website and social media accounts for frequent updates.
