Bolin's Walk-Off Single Sends Spokane Past Boise 8-7

July 6, 2016 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Spokane Indians News Release

SPOKANE, WA - All it took for Spokane's first three-game winning streak of 2016 was some clutch hitting from Travis Bolin and a little help from Mother Nature. Bolin, a 32nd round pick from Davenport University, drilled the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth inning after the Indians tied the game up in a rain-soaked eighth as Spokane scooted past Boise 8-7 in front of 3,564 fans at Avista Stadium for Hawaiian Night presented by 103.1 KCDA.

The Indians entered the eighth inning trailing 7-5 but under a steady downpour they knotted up the score on a Boise error and an RBI single from Blaine Prescott. After Mark Vasquez (1-0) kept the Hawks off the board in the top of the ninth, Xavier Turner and Stephen Lohr hit consecutive two-out singles to set the stage for Bolin's heroics.

Catcher Alex Kowalczyk staked the Indians to an early lead with a two-run double in the first and an opposite field two-run homer in the third. Boise got back into the game with a pair of runs in the fifth and scored three in the seventh to grab a short-lived 7-5 advantage.

Turner finished the game 4-for-5 with three runs scored and now has nine hits over his last four games to raise his season average to .314. Kowalczyk, Day, Lohr, and Prescott each finished with two hits in the victory.
