Bobby Robins, Jason Lepine Coming to Condorstown

Bakersfield Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, host of the 2010-11 ECHL All-Star Classic and ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, today signed LW Bobby Robins and D Jason Lepine. The signings were announced by Head Coach Marty Raymond.

Robins, 28, is entering his fifth full professional season and returns to North America after spending the last two seasons in Austria and Northern Ireland. In 2007-08, the Peshtigo, Wisconsin, native amassed 35 points (18g-17a) and 151 penalty minutes in 68 games with the Elmira Jackals in the ECHL, while also skating in seven American Hockey League games.

The 6-1, 220-pound Robins started his career with the Binghamton Senators of the AHL, playing a full season in 2006-07 in which he posted 110 penalty minutes and 15 points (7g-8a) in 80 games. After a standout senior season at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, he turned pro with the Senators and has skated in over 100 AHL contests. During the last two campaigns in Europe, Robins amassed 257 PIM and 53 points (24g-29a) in 77 games.

Lepine, 25, is also embarking on his fifth professional campaign. In 2009-10, he led all blueliners on the International Hockey League's Bloomington Prairie Thunder in goals (11), assists (33) and points (44) while also earning promotions to the Albany River Rats and Peoria Rivermen in the AHL. The Cornwall, Ontario, native has 88 points (24g-64a) in 171 career games in the pro ranks. The 5-10, 185-pound Lepine won a Southern Professional Hockey League championship with the Knoxville Ice Bears in 2007-08, a season in which he battled through injuries to post 14 points in just 24 games, and added six points in eight playoff games en route to the title.

What Marty says:

"Bobby is a tough player that can play on our top lines. He has good skills and he's as tough as nails. He will park in front of the net if need be. Jason is an offensive defenseman with good skills and a desire to go to the next level. He's very dedicated and we're happy to have him on board."

The Condors now have nine players under contract for the 2010-11 season: goaltender Peter Hirsch, defensemen Erik Burgdoerfer, Jay Cascalenda, Lepine and Yan Turcotte, forwards Adam Chorneyko, Adam Naglich, Robins and Mika Suoraniemi. Training camp opens for the Condors on Friday, Oct. 1.
