Blues Acquire Goaltender Joe Fallon From Chicago

ST. LOUIS (March 1, 2010) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that the club has acquired goaltender Joe Fallon from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for goaltender Hannu Toivonen and defenseman Danny Richmond. Fallon will report to the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate, Peoria Rivermen.

In a separate transaction, the Rivermen have acquired defenseman Daryl Boyle from the Rockford IceHogs in exchange for future considerations.

Fallon, 25, is in his second professional season and has appeared in 29 for games for Rockford this year. He has accumulated a 15-10-1 record with a 2.64 goals-against average and a.912 save percentage. Last season he spent most of the year in the ECHL, between Fresno and Gwinnett, but did see action in two AHL games. He was a combined 18-14-1 in the ECHL with a 2.98 GAA while he allowed just one goal in 63 minutes of action with Rockford.

The Bemidji, Minnesota native was originally drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round, 167th overall in the 2005 entry draft. In his four-year career at the University of Vermont, Fallon compiled 20 shutouts, the most in school history. He also set a Catamount single-season record with six shutouts in both 2005-06 and 2006-07.

Boyle, 23, has appeared in 52 games this season for the IceHogs. His 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) rank third among Rockford defensemen. He has accumulated a minus-3 rating and 29 penalty minutes in his second professional season.

The 6-foot-1, 198 pound defenseman played in 70 games during his rookie year as a member of the Norfolk Admirals where he registered 15 points (two goals, 13 assists) and 49 penalty minutes. He spent four seasons as a member of the Brandon Wheat Kings (2004-08) of the Western Hockey League where he was a teammate of Rivermen winger Ryan Reaves for three seasons. A native of Lethbridge, Alberta, he ranked among the top 20 in WHL points by defensemen in both the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. He led the Wheat Kings in scoring with 41 points during his final junior season.
