(Bridgeport, CT) - The York Revolution defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 11-8 in ten innings Saturday night at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
Bridgeport got the game started with Adam Greenberg (3-5, 3 R) scoring in the first inning giving the 'Fish a 1-0 lead. Salvador Paniagua answered back in the second inning taking Bluefish starter Michael Colla yard with a two-run, two-out shot.
Michael Colla started for the Bridgeport giving up six earned in four-and-one-third innings before giving way to the bullpen. Nick Green started for York and pitched five innings giving up five runs (two earned) and striking out one.
The Bluefish battled back after going down 6-1 after three innings. They were trailing by one run in the seventh inning when Yusuf Carter and Adam Greenberg came around to score on an error by York first baseman Brian Burgamy; to give the lead to Bridgeport, 7-6.
However, Burgamy had the last laugh, leading off the ninth frame with a double and scored on an RBI double from the next hitter, Andy Marte. The game went to extras where Edward Rodriguez (0-1) got the first two outs of the tenth inning before walking five straight batters and taking the loss. Josh Judy (1-0) picked up the victory for the Revs.
Bridgeport will face York in the rubber match Sunday afternoon with Wardell Starling (0-0) facing York's Matt Fox (0-0). Sunday-Funday presented by Star 99.9 and CHET 529 College Savings Program is set to start at 1:05 p.m. with gates opening at 12:05 p.m. There will be a pre-game catch and autograph session on the field, followed by kids run the bases following the game.
