Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ-The Lakewood BlueClaws got back on the winning track with a 2-1 win over Delmarva on Tuesday night in front of 7,601 at FirstEnergy Park.

A SAC fly proved the winning run, as Julian Williams, who tripled leading off in the 6th, was driven in by Adrian Cardenas, who nearly had his 2nd double of the game, but was robbed by a diving RF Brandon Tripp.

Lakewood had a 7-game win streak snapped on Monday, but won despite a two-run and 5-hit output for the 8th time in their last 9 games despite scoring just 29 runs in those contests.

The 2-1 lead was more than enough for the Lakewood bullpen, which got five outs from Michael Dubee and the final four from RJ Swindle. The lefty came into strike out Billy Rowell to end the 8th before tossing the ninth for his sixth save.

Cardenas drove in both Lakewood runs. His 1st inning double scored Julian Williams to give Lakewood a 1-0 lead.

Andrew Cruse got the spot start for Lakewood, lasting 5 innings and allowing just 1 run. BlueClaws starting pitching has allowed just 8 earned runs over the last 7 starts.

Beato (3-3) was the hard-luck losing pitcher. He last a season-high 7 innings, and allowed just 2 runs while striking out 8.

After an off-day Wednesday, the BlueClaws hit the road for six games, beginning at Delmarva on Thursday. LHP Antonio Bastardo (2-0, 0.95) opposes RHP Kyle Schmidt (3-3, 3.80). First pitch is at 7:05 and you can hear the game on the Shore Sports Network (1160 WOBM-AM and 1310 WADB) beginning at 6:50.
