BlueClaws to Wear "Restore the Shore" Jerseys

February 13, 2013 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Opening Weekend at FirstEnergy Park will have a decided Restore the Shore theme. BlueClaws players and coaches will be wearing special Restore The Shore jerseys April 4th - 7th, with the jerseys to be auctioned off to benefit BlueClaws Charities Restore The Shore efforts.

The Opening Weekend jersey auction is presented by Ergophobia.

The backs of the jerseys will have the names of different towns in Ocean and Monmouth Counties that were impacted by Hurricane Sandy (including Brick, Seaside Heights, Point Pleasant, Pt Pleasant Beach, Toms River, and many others). Please note that the determination of which jerseys will be worn by which players will not be made until days before Opening Day.

There will be 50 jerseys auctioned off, and this includes all jerseys worn over the weekend by BlueClaws players and coaches (some will not be game-worn). The auction will be silent and run over the four days of Opening Weekend, with bidding beginning on Opening Day, April 4th and closing on April 7th.

"This is something that we're very excited about," said BlueClaws General Manager Brandon Marano. "We feel we have a chance to raise a great deal of money for a worthy cause. These will be very attractive to anyone around the Jersey Shore."

There will also be five jerseys that have, rather than a town name, "Jersey Shore" on the back to represent the entire area. These will be auctioned off separately. BlueClaws Charities, a 501c3 organization, is the official non-profit foundation of the Lakewood BlueClaws and has started a grant program to raise money for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

Opening Day, presented by Ergophobia, is April 4th with a 6:35 pm first pitch. It is also a 66MVP Thirsty Thursday, with dollar beer and soda plus 50-cent wings in the Coors Light WRAT Trap. Friday, April 5th includes a 7:05 pm start and is the first Fireworks Friday, presented by Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood. Saturday, April 6th is a 4:05 pm start and the BlueClaws will celebrate Buster's Birthday thanks to TD Bank. The first 2,000 fans of all ages will receive a BlueClaws scarf. Finally, on Sunday, April 7th, the first 2,000 fans will receive a BlueClaws schedule cup thanks to Waterside Gardens Apartments. Plus, Kids Eat Free thanks to ShopRite and all Kids Club members receive a free Sod Squad ticket.

Individual game tickets for the 2013 BlueClaws season will go on sale at FanFest on March 2nd. Prior to that date, fans can reserve tickets only through a BlueClaws ticket package or group outing. For more information, please call 732-901-7000 option 3 or visit BlueClaws.com.
