BlueClaws Swept by Suns; Fall 2-1 on Wednesday

HAGERSTOWN, MD - Hagerstown finished off their third sweep of the BlueClaws this year, knocking off Lakewood 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Municipal Stadium to improve to 9-0 against the BlueClaws this year.

Victor Robles' RBI double in the fifth inning broke a 1-1 tie and gave the Suns the lead they would not give up. In the process, Hagerstown won their sixth straight game to improve to 26-12 on the year while the BlueClaws fall to 15-23. They have been swept in three straight series by the Suns this season.

After the BlueClaws left the bases loaded in the first inning, they opened the scoring in the second inning when Carlos Duran grounded into a double play which scored Jiandido Tromp from third base.

Then in the fourth inning, the Suns tied the game on a Rhett Wiseman RBI single before Shane Watson induced Ryan Ripken to ground into an inning-ending double play.

Hagerstown took the lead in the sixth inning on an RBI double by Victor Robles off Shane Watson, who came out of the game after allowing just two runs on five hits over six innings of work, but took the loss to fall to 2-2 on the year.

Jefry Rodriguez gave up one run in five innings and is now 3-2 on the season.

Carlos Duran had three of the eight BlueClaws hits in the game.

The BlueClaws head home and open a four-game series with Delmarva on Thursday night. RHP Luke Leftwich (3-1) starts for Lakewood against LHP Brian Gonzalez (3-1) at 6:35.
