Blue Jackets Recall Monsters Left Wing Sonny Milano

CLEVELAND - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, announced Sunday that the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets recalled left wing Sonny Milano. A first-round selection by Columbus (16th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Milano has a -1 rating to his credit in three NHL appearances for the Blue Jackets this season and supplied 18-28-46 with 22 penalty minutes and a -4 rating in 61 AHL appearances for the Monsters this year, leading the team in points and ranking tied for the team-lead in goals.
A 6'1", 205 lb., left-handed native of Massapequa, NY, Milano has 0-1-1 to his credit in six career NHL appearances, all for the Blue Jackets, spanning each of the past two seasons. In 125 career AHL appearances for the Springfield Falcons and the Monsters spanning parts of three seasons from 2014-17, Milano registered 32-50-82 with 44 penalty minutes and a +1 rating. In 2016, Milano contributed 4-4-8 with four penalty minutes and a +6 rating in 17 AHL postseason appearances, helping the Monsters claim the Calder Cup as AHL Playoff Champions.
Prior to his professional career, Milano logged 22-46-68 with 24 penalty minutes and a -17 rating in 50 OHL appearances for the Plymouth Whalers during the 2014-15 season and posted 24-37-61 with 33 penalty minutes and a -6 rating in 63 USHL appearances for the Team USA NTDP spanning the 2012-13 and 2013-14 campaigns. Milano has twice represented Team USA at the IIHF World Junior Championship, supplying 1-7-8 with two penalty minutes and a +9 rating in seven appearances in 2016, aiding the Americans in capturing the tournament's Bronze Medal, and notching 2-2-4 with two penalty minutes and a +2 rating in five appearances at the tournament in 2015.
