WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed import linebacker Wendell Brown, import defensive lineman Freddie Harris and import receiver Trevor Kennedy, the team announced today.
Brown (6-0, 214, Ball State, DOB: December 6, 1986 in Detroit, Michigan) was a three-year starter at linebacker for the Cardinals and was named Honorable Mention All-MAC in 2006 after starting all 12 games and finishing second on the team in tackles. After graduation, Brown spent time with the Rochester Raiders of the Indoor Football League before he accepted the position of Linebackers Coach with Adrian College of Division III football. He returned to the playing field last season, suiting up with the Bloomington Edge of the IFL.
Harris (6-3, 225, Central Oklahoma, DOB: June 21, 1986 in Carrollton, Texas) played three seasons for the Broncos after transferring from Navarro Junior College and was named first-team All-LSC North Division as a senior after registering 56 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and a team-high six quarterback sacks. He also led the team in sacks as both a junior and a sophomore, compiling 15.5 in three seasons. After a tryout with the St. Louis Rams in 2010, Harris has since spent time with the Spokane Shock of the Arena Football League and the Tri-Cities Fever of the Indoor Football League.
Kennedy (6-0, 199, Mercyhurst, DOB: September 20, 1990 in Akron, Ohio) set single-season records while at Mercyhurst with 88 receptions for 1,389 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns in his senior season in 2011. Earning accolades as both a receiver and returner, Kennedy finished his collegiate career second all-time in school history with 2,758 receiving yards, second all-time in all-purpose yards with 4,249 all-purpose yards and recorded 31 total touchdowns. He had tryouts with both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers upon graduation.
