Blaze Record Second Shutout

RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, registered their second-ever shutout in a 4-0 win over the Rapid City Rush at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center on Friday night.

Jared Walker lit the lamp for his first professional goal to put the Blaze on the board first just 3:39 into the game shortly into a power play, assisted by Tyler Gron and Steve Makway. Sebastien Trudeau put the Blaze ahead 2-0 with 3:23 left in the opening period when he scored on a breakaway on an assist from Jesse Dudas. Nicholas Rioux made it 3-0 at the end of the first period as he fired a drive from center ice that fluttered into the net just before the horn sounded.

The Blaze capped the scoring when Matthew Larke redirected a drive with 3:08 remaining in regulation on assists from Dudas and Makway.

Gerry Festa recorded the second Blaze shutout with 34 saves. The Blaze were 1-of-4 on the power play while the Rush did not convert any of their four attempts.

The Blaze rematch with the Rush on Saturday night at 8:05 p.m. Central to conclude the road trip. Pre-game on WJBC.com and CHL-TV is scheduled for 7:45 and fans are invited to watch the game at Gill Street Sports Bar and Restaurant, 3002 Gill Street in Bloomington. The Blaze then return home for a 7:05 p.m. Thursday face-off against the Missouri Mavericks. Junior Blaze fall at Soo: The Junior Blaze dropped a 7-4 decision on Friday to the Soo Firehawks at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Joseph Clemente scored two goals and added an assist to lead Bloomington. Jacob Lourash and Tyler Gehrken also scored for the Junior Blaze, who continue the weekend series at Soo on Saturday and Sunday.
