Blaze Drop Decision to Visiting IceMen
November 4, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bloomington Blaze News Release
The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, could not hold off a strong early attack and dropped a 4-1 decision to the Evansville IceMen on Friday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
Evansville scored twice in the first period, both by Sean O'Connor. He redirected a blast from the left point off a face-off win to put the IceMen on the board first with 13:03 remaining in the opening period, then drove one home from the right side about seven minutes later to give the IceMen a 2-0 lead after one period.
The IceMen scored the only goal of the middle chapter while short-handed. Jordan Little cleared the puck from his own zone directly to the skates of Todd Robinson, who skated in unabated and beat Blaze goaltender Marco Emond to put Evansville ahead 3-0 going into the second intermission.
Kyle Laughlin lit the lamp for the Blaze only 33 seconds into the third period on a wraparound at the left post, continuing his streak of scoring a goal in each of the four Blaze games. Evansville answered 8:18 into the third period on Todd Robinson's second goal and fourth point of the night to increase the IceMen lead back to 4-1.
The IceMen outshot the Blaze 32-28.
The Blaze conclude the season-opening homestand on Saturday night at 7:05 against the Rapid City Rush, featuring the largest giveaway in the history of U.S. Cellular Coliseum during the Extreme Motors Great Car Giveaway. A lucky fan will win a brand new 2012 Hyundai Accent worth $17,000. It's also Clare House Food Drive Night, when fans are encouraged to donate canned food to the organization's food pantry. For each can donated, an additional entry for the car giveaway will be made (limit five). No purchase necessary, with complete rules at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum box office or at www.uscellularcoliseum.com.
