Blast Defeat Tropics 7-0

The Baltimore Blast hosted the Florida Tropics on Saturday night for an Eastern Division matchup. In the third and final regular season matchup between the teams the Blast would sweep the series by defeating the Tropics 7-0 in front of 7,450 fans at the Royal Farms Arena.

In the first quarter the Blast controlled possession and built a two goal lead. Juan Pereira recorded the first goal of the game assisted by Vini Dantas and Jonatas Melo followed with his 3rd goal of the season assisted by Jamie Thomas. At the end of the first the Blast led 2-0.

In the second quarter the Blast would extend the lead when Vini Dantas broke down the sideline and set up Jamie Thomas for his first Blast goal. Seconds later Dantas would record his team leading 7th goal of the season assisted by Jonatas Melo to put the Blast up 4-0. Before the end of the quarter Nelson Santana would add a goal assisted by Sofiane Tergou. At the half the Blast led 5-0.

In the third quarter William Vanzela and the Blast defense kept the Tropics off the scoreboard and Tony Donatelli, who leads the Blast is points, recorded his 5th goal of the season assisted by Andrew Hoxie.

At the 6:04 mark of the fourth quarter Vini Dantas would strike for his second goal of the game. The Blast defense would hold off the Tropic attack with outstanding defensive play to record the shutout. Goalkeeper, William Vanzela, recorded 20 saves in the victory.

The Blast offense was led by Vini Dantas who recorded 2 goals and 2 assists on the night. William Vanzela recorded his first shutout of the season.

The Blast will be back in action tomorrow evening when they face the Kansas City Comets at 6:05 p.m. in Kansas City.
