Lincoln, Neb. - The Stars were unable to complete the comeback in Game 3, falling 4-3 in Young Arena on Saturday night and trailing 2-1 in the five-game first round playoff series against the Waterloo Black Hawks.

Waterloo made it 1-0 at 4:26 of the first when Ronnie Hein skated down the right wing boards, fired a shot off the pad of Stars goalie Peyton Jones and Nick Swaney scored the rebound for his first goal of the playoffs.

The Black Hawks stretched their lead on the power play five minutes later when Swaney returned the favor for Hein, making it 2-0 at the midway point of the first.

Trevor Hamilton put a dent into Waterloo's lead toward the end of the period, shaking free in the slot for a power play goal at the 16:26 mark. Ludvig Hoff and Grant Jozefek had the assists.

Waterloo carried a one-goal lead into the first intermission.

Zach Yon put the Black Hawks back on the board with a wrist shot under the arm of Jones to make it 3-1 at 6:13 of the second period.

Tanner Laczynski cut the lead for the Stars at 13:42 of the second, but the score wouldn't hold for long. Less than two minutes later, Waterloo's Ryan Lohin tapped in a back-door pass to give the Black Hawks a 4-2 lead after 40 minutes.

The Stars opened the scoring in the third period with Anthony Wyse's wrist shot from the left point. Laczynski and Henry Bowlby had the assists.

Despite a frantic final two minutes, the Black Hawks held on for the victory.

The Stars outshot the Hawks, 41-32. Jones finished with 38 saves. Hamilton had a multi-point game.

The Stars will continue their series with Game 4 on Sunday, April 24 in Young Arena. If necessary, Game 5 will be played in the Ice Box on Tuesday, April 26. For tickets and more information log on to lincolnstars.com.
