Tri-City Storm News Release

Kearney, Neb. - Carson Meyer scored his fourth goal of the postseason, but the Tri-City Storm yielded a goal late in the second and could not come back, falling, 3-1, in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals Saturday at the Viaero Center.

Waterloo has tied the best-of-five series, 1-1, entering Games 3 and 4 at Young Arena.

Yuri Terao scored the game-winning goal for the Hawks with 2:13 left in the second. Nick Swaney added an empty-net goal with seven seconds left in the third to ice the contest.

Goalie Jake Kielly was strong, making 28 saves and yielding a pair of goals. Through the first five games of the postseason, Kielly has allowed five goals, best in the circuit. Cale Morris earned the win with 32 saves.

The Hawks deflected a shot through Kielly for the opening goal at 3:11 of the first. Ben Newhouse banged a shot off a Storm defender and Kielly could not find it. Garrett Wait and David Cotton took the assists.

The Storm was outshot, 12-7, in the first, but rebounded with 18 shots in the second. The Storm has had at least 17 shots in a period four times this postseason, including a season-best 23 in the second during Game 1 of the Conference Finals.

The Storm's Carson Meyer tied it at 9:03 of the second, peppering a shot to the top left shelf from the right slot. Jake Wahlin faked to create time for Meyer's fourth of the postseason. Nico Sturm took the secondary assist.

Meyer has a combined 36 goals between the regular and postseason. Nico Sturm is second on the team with six postseason points (3g, 3a) and has a six-game point streak (3g, 4a) extending back to the last game of the regular season.

A strange bounce went the Black Hawks' way with 2:13 left in the second. The pucked winged in the air to the left post and Zach Yon knocked a ground ball to the right post for Yuri Terao, who scored his second postseason goal.

In the third, the Storm had eight shots on goal to finish with a game total of 33. Tri-City was 0-for-4 on the power play and Waterloo was 0-for-3. The Storm's penalty kill is 18-for-18 in the postseason.
