News Release

The Bisons used three home runs from three different batters on Saturday night to grab their second straight win over Louisville at Louisville Slugger Field, 8-0.

Bringing in the trio of home runs for the Herd was Michael Saunders, Jason Leblebijian, and Dwight Smith Jr. Giving the Herd their opening score was Saunders for his first home run of the year. Leblebijian then batted his own solo home run an inning later when he drove a Rookie Davis pitch deep to centerfield to put Buffalo up 2-0.

Leblebijian's home run marked the beginning of a huge inning for the Bisons. Jon Berti reached second base after hitting a line drive to right field past Bats outfielder Jesse Winker, followed by Roemon Fields batting a grounder to left field and brought Berti home for a score. Smith Jr. then drilled the final home run of the evening for Buffalo on a fly ball to right field to bring himself and Fields to home plate. The homer capped off a four-run inning for the Herd and stretched their advantage to 5-0.

Fields continued his productivity in the seventh, batting a grounder to short to reach first and setup insurance runs for the Herd. Just one pitch later from Alejandro Chacin, Saunders batted in his second run of the day when he hit a line drive to center field for a double, scoring Fields in the process. The Herd increased their lead to 7-0 when Louisville pitcher Kevin Shackelford threw a wild pitch with Rowdy Tellez batting, letting Saunders make his way home.

Louisville had five hits in the scoreless affair and went 0-10 when runners were in scoring position. In total, the Bats stranded 16 players on base.

Chris Rowley started for the Herd on the mound and went for a full seven innings before calling it a night. The righty had three strikeouts and allowed five hits in the scoreless outing. Andrew Case came in relief to close out the game

The Herd finishes up their road trip on Sunday evening with a chance to win their series with Louisville at 6:05 p.m. Southpaw T.J. House (7-9, 4.41 ERA) will work the mound for Buffalo and Cody Reed (3-5, 3.61 ERA) will throw for the Bats.
