Buffalo Bisons News Release

TODAY'S GAME: Today, the Buffalo Bisons host the Charlotte Knights in game three of a four-game series from Dunn Tire Park (1:05 p.m.) Buffalo is 4-3 so far on their nine-game in eight-day homestand after taking four of five games from Syracuse. On the mound this afternoon for the Herd will be LHP Aaron Laffey. Laffey is coming off back-to-back decisions after winning seven straight games, June 2-July 6. The Knights will counter with LHP Andrew Sisco.

HE'S NO JOKE: LHP Aaron Laffey continues to dominate during his first stint at the Triple-A level. Since June 2, the southpaw is 7-0 with a 1.62ERA in nine games. He has more strikeouts 52 than hits allowed during that stretch (55.2IP, 10ER). Laffey has also allowed just one home run in his last 45.0 innings of work. If he had nine more innings pitched, his 3.24ERA would qualify as the third lowest mark in the International League. Laffey is also 2nd on the team in wins (7) and T3rd in strikeouts (58).

EVERY DAY HITTER: Outfielder Jonathan Van Every launched his seventh home run of the season last night. Those seven home runs have come in just 40 games since his promotion from Double-A Akron. Since June 10, Van Every has hit .306 (37-121) with 10 extra base hits and a .521 slugging percentage. With 20 walks, he has also posted a .413 on-base percentage.

MILLER TIME: Reliever Matt Miller kept his impressive streak of work alive last night. The side-armer has now thrown 20 consecutive outings without allowing an earned run. It all began on May 19 and since Miller has pitched 19.1 innings and allowed just four unearned runs on 10 hits while striking out 22.

A-HAAD OF THE PACK: Catcher Yamid Haad has seven hits in his last 10 at-bats and still carries a .369 (24-65) batting average after 21 games with the Bisons. He has seven multi-hit performances, including three, three-hit games. Haad has become a rally starter as he is hitting .429 (6-14) when leading off an inning.

UN-COOPED: Jason Cooper saw his eight-game hit streak come to an end last night. Still, the outfielder has hit .333 (10-33) with two home runs and eight RBI in his last nine games. Cooper is now 14th on the Modern Era charts in games played (274). He's also 13th in home runs (36) and 9th in RBI (160).
