Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons take on the Columbus Clippers in the first game of a three-game series from Coca-Cola Field (4:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a 4-2 roadtrip that included a three-game sweep of the Clippers at Huntington Park. The Bisons are 10-11 at home this season but have won seven of their last nine in downtown Buffalo.

Last Game (TOL 3, BUF 2)

The Bisons suffered their third walkoff defeat of the season on Sunday in Toledo. After the Herd scored two in the top of the eighth inning to take a 2-1 lead, Mud Hens' LF Stephen Moya hit a two-run homer with one out in the ninth. SHP Pat Venditte provided excellent relief with five strikeouts in 2.1 shutout innings of work.

vs. Columbus (3-0)

The Bisons swept the Clippers last week by a combined score of 22-14. It was Buffalo's first sweep of Columbus since taking four games, August 5-8, 2010 at Huntington Park. With a win today, the Herd can clinch their fifth straight season-series victory over the Clippers.

Chris Leroux

RHP Chris Leroux is 3-0 with a 2.65 ERA in three starts since being reinserted into the rotation on May 14. On Wednesday against Columbus, the righty matched a career-high with seven innings of shutout baseball. Leroux retired the final 10 batters he faced, and allowed just five hits in Buffalo's 2-0 victory.

Jesus Montero

DH Jesus Montero has hit in nine straight games since May 19 with a .358 average (15-39), two doubles, two home runs and six RBI. He has six multi-hit performances during the streak and is now tied for 7th in the IL with a .306 average overall. Montero already has a 13-game hit streak to his credit this season, April 15-29 (19-57, .333).

Andy Burns

INF Andy Burns brings a four-game hit streak into today's game over which he has averaged .316 (6-19) with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Burns has five multi-hit performances in his last 10 games and has averaged .316 (18-57) since May 4.

Bisons Bits

The Bisons defense has turned three doubleplays in each of their last two games. Their 38 total doubleplays in 2016 are tied for the 2nd-fewest in the IL...OF Junior Lake is 14 for his last 43 at the plate for a .326 average since May 15...C A.J. Jimenez is 14 for his last 40 for a .350 average since May 13...SHP Pat Venditte has struck out 21 of the 49 batters he's faced or 42.8%...RHP Ben Rowen has made seven consecutive scoreless appearances (8.0 IP).

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays' (26-26) lost in 11 innings to the Red Sox on Sunday, 5-3. Toronto got home runs from RF Jose Bautista and DH Edwin Encarnacion in the loss, their 11th and 10th respectively. The Blue Jays used seven pitchers, with former Bisons' RHP R.A. Dickey allowing three runs in the first 5.1 innings. Toronto hosts the Yankees tonight at 7:07 p.m.
