Montgomery Biscuits News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Ten. - The Biscuits (12-9) fought the Lookouts (9-13) until the bitter end, but came up empty falling 5-4 on Friday night in Chattanooga.

Jake Faria (0-3) was on the mound for the fifth time this season, but the right-hander did not have his best stuff, lasting just 2.2 innings and allowing four runs before being pulled in the third. After Montgomery took a 1-0 lead in the second thanks to an RBI-single by Juniel Querecuto, the Lookouts responded with five unanswered runs powered by former Biscuit Leo Reginatto's two RBIs.

David Hurlbut (2-1) kept the Biscuits off-balance all evening, and allowed just one run on seven hits with six strikeouts in six innings of work. Montgomery would battle back though, loading the bases in the seventh, eighth, and ninth, but only mustered a single run in each inning on a wild pitch, an infield single, and a groundout.

Jake DePew, who finished the night 2-for-4, stepped up to the plate against Lookouts closer J.T. Chargois in the top of the ninth in a 5-4 game, and with runners at second and third and two outs was caught looking at strike three on the outside corner to end the game. The Biscuits are now 11-1 when scoring four runs or more, the first time they have lost such a game so far this season.

Montgomery will look to turn things around on Saturday night when Taylor Guerrieri (0-1) takes the hill against Adam Slegers (1-1) at 6:15 PM.

The Biscuits will head back home in four days time to open up their first ten-game home stand of the season against the Birmingham Barons on Wednesday, May 4.
