'Birds Go out with a Bang

MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis slugged their way to a 12-4 victory over Omaha Thursday afternoon, wrapping up their final homestand of the 2012 season at AutoZone Park.

The Redbirds sent 12 men to the plate in the first inning as they drove in seven runs off Omaha starter Nate Adcock. With a two-run double by Adron Chambers and a two-run single by Brock Peterson in the fifth, the 'Birds took an 11-2 lead. Ryan Jackson was plated in the eighth off a wild pitch by Chasers reliever Donnie Joseph. Chambers led Memphis going 4-for-6 with four RBI. Omaha scattered four runs on 11 hits in the game.

'Birds starter Tyler Lyons earned the win, giving up three runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings while walking one and striking out one. Adcock suffered the loss, surrendering seven runs on eight hits in just an inning of work.
