D.C. United News Release
WASHINGTON - Bill Hamid, 25, is expected to miss 4-6 months after he underwent surgery to repair a torn lateral meniscus of the right knee while preparing for the U.S. Men's National Team January camp. Hamid underwent surgery by Dr. Michael Gerhardt, U.S. National Team doctor.
United currently have goalkeepers Andrew Dykstra and Travis Worra on the roster. Dykstra, 30, re-signed with the team earlier this month. Dykstra started nine MLS matches for the Black-and-Red in 2015, as well as all four matches in the 2015-16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League group stage and both matches in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. He was nominated for MLS Save of the Week four times, winning the award in Week 14 for his penalty save against Chicago's Jeff Larentowicz. In 30 career MLS starts, Dykstra has 101 saves and is 11-10-8.
Worra, 22, played in one MLS match in his rookie season (32 minutes in Vancouver on April 25) and was also named D.C. United's Humanitarian of the Year. He started 11 matches for the Richmond Kickers, United's USL affiliate, making 28 saves and playing 900 minutes.
D.C. United players report in Washington January 22 before departing for Bradenton, Florida, the following day to begin preseason preparations for the upcoming 2016 MLS season. In February, the team travels to Querétaro, Mexico, for the first leg of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League on February 23.
