Central Islip, N.Y. - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 8-5 on Thursday night in the finale of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Ducks took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single to right field by Delta Cleary Jr. and a solo homer to right by Marc Krauss off Revolution starter Victor Mateo. York answered in the third when they plated seven runs against Ducks starter John Brownell to take a 7-2 lead. Alonzo Harris' RBI single and Michael Burgess' two-run double highlighted the frame.

Long Island closed the gap to 7-4 with single runs in the fourth and fifth inning. An RBI infield single by Elmer Reyes and an RBI single to left by Lew Ford did the damage. Following an RBI single by Jared Mitchell in the eighth, the Ducks rallied for a run in the ninth on Krauss' sacrifice fly to center that scored Jordan Hinshaw. However, they were unable to pull even.

Mateo did not factor into the decision but pitched four and one-third innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and one walk. Michael Click (3-1) picked up the win after retiring both batters he faced in the fifth to escape a two-on, one-out jam. Brownell (9-4) took the loss, surrendering seven runs (five earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out five.

Cleary Jr. led the Flock with three hits, while Hinshaw added two hits and three runs. Angelo Songco also chipped in with a pair of hits.

The Ducks continue their homestand on Friday night when they open a three-game series against the New Britain Bees. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Ducks Thundersticks, courtesy of Newsday. It's also a Fowl Pole Friday, and if a select Ducks player hits a home run off of one of the foul poles during the game, one lucky fan will win $50,000. In addition, a Bees player will be selected as the Pizza Hut K-Man of the game. If that player strikes out, fans will receive a special offer for a FREE 1-Topping Personal Pizza at a participating Pizza Hut location. Right-hander Tyler Levine (3-1, 4.58) gets the start for the Ducks against Bees righty Kyle Simon (9-11, 4.11).
