Big Homestand To Close Out 2013 Season For Blue Wahoos

Pensacola's Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, will be closing out their second season with a big homestand finish beginning this Friday. The Wahoos, looking to hold their second-place standing in the Southern League for total season attendance, are hoping for good weather and a strong finish for their fans.

Friday's homestand leadoff will bring a "Mystery Giveaway" to the first 1,000 fans through the gates as part of Fan Appreciation Friday, sponsored by PayDay HR Solutions One lucky family will win a free round trip courtesy of Silver Airways and the Pensacola International Airport in the last "Pack Your Bags" contest of the season.

On Saturday, join the team for their renowned post-game fireworks show, sponsored by The Andrews Institute During the game, fans can bid on the Special Edition "Navy" Camouflage jerseys worn by the team that night. All proceeds of this auction will benefit the Andrew's Institute's Eagle Fund which helps ensure that wounded soldiers can access the best health care available.

On both Friday and Saturday, the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be on hand to help fans properly dispose of worn, faded, and tattered American Flags. The VFW will collect old flags at the game and will ensure they are retired properly, so we can all rest knowing that our nation's symbol is treated with the honor and respect it deserves.

Sunday promises to be a great day for fans and players alike, as the Wahoos give away free 2013 team pictures while supplies last, sponsored by Dlux Printing Get there by 3:15 and actually get the entire Blue Wahoos squad to sign your picture on the concourse. Or help the local chapter of Goodwill - Easter Seals as they host a walk for charity and a clothes drive. Bring your gently used clothing and shoes to the game where Goodwill will have a donation truck available.

Also on deck is the National Championship UWF Soccer Team who will be recognized for their 2012 National Championship as well as their 2013 first place pre-season ranking as well. The good folks from Hill Kelly Dodge will offer their Dodge Ram Test Drive, where fans can test drive a new truck and get a free Blue Wahoos T-Shirt in the process. Sunday is also the last Family Sunday this year, so bring the kids to run the bases and play catch in the outfield following the game, sponsored by McDonalds.

Monday brings our young fans their favorite WSRE / PBS Kids characters. Curious George, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Super Why, and the PBS Kids will be there to meet and greet our youngest Wahooligans. If you can't make the game, come by WSRE's Imagination Station where the characters "live" when they're not here in "real life," and let your favorite young fan explore all it has to offer.

Tuesday closes out the final 2013 home stand and we've got a special treat for our fans. To celebrate the fantastic second season of the Blue Wahoos, we have the Pensacola area's very own Chloe Channell on hand to sing for us, following her captivating performance on NBC's America's Got Talent Chloe will sing and we'll also have our last Tuesday fireworks, this time with more fireworks than ever as a thank you to our fans, sponsored by Budweiser You won't want to miss a very special Homerun for Life ceremony that will bring you out of your seat. Finally, the Blue Wahoos Women's Club will have their final event of the year, as they "Meet the Mixologist." --
