Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LAKE ELSINORE, CA) - The Lake Elsinore Storm scored nine runs in the first inning Saturday night at the Diamond and never looked back, defeating the Lancaster JetHawks 14-2 in the first game of a three-game series.

The Storm drove Lancaster starter Zach Grimmett out of the game in the first inning after only one out while en route to nine runs. They added two more in the third and fourth and another in the fifth before reliever Colt Pitkin silenced the Storm hitters over the final three innings.

Lancaster was never able to mount much offensively. Its best chance came in the third inning when J.C. Thompson opened the inning with a walk followed by a Rene Garcia single. Andy Simunic drove in Thompson with a single, but a double-play ended the inning before the JetHawks could add another run.

They did not score again until the ninth inning. Jordan Comadena started the frame with a single and moved to second on a wild pitch. That put him in position to score on Adam Bailey's double.

Garcia's hit in the second inning extended the longest hit streak of his career to eight consecutive games.

The JetHawks will match up with the Storm again Sunday evening at the Diamond. Robby Donovan (2-11) will start for Lancaster against Mike Watt (4-7). The game starts at 5:05 and will be broadcast live on radio by 87.7 Kickin' Country and online at CSN at JetHawks.com (click the listen live link). The Pre-Game Show starts at 4:50.

The JetHawks return home Wednesday, July 20 to open a six-game homestand against the High Desert Mavericks and the Lake Elsinore Storm. For tickets and other information, call (661) 726-5400 or visit JetHawks.com.
