January 23, 2016 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Red Deer Rebels News Release

One night after a tough shootout loss to Swift Current, the Rebels welcomed the U.S. Division leading Everett Silvertips to Red Deer for a rare visit.

FIRST PERIOD

The Silvertips came out strong, firing the first seven shots on goal and scoring the game's first goal on a powerplay. Graham Miller got his stick on a Noah Juulsen point shot to tip home his 11th goal of the year, 1-0 Everett 1:48 into the game.

SECOND PERIOD

The Rebels got their offence going early in the middle frame to jump out to a 2-1 lead.

First it was Adam Helewka netting his 26th goal of the year with a deft tip of a pass from Michael Spacek. Ivan Nikolishin, playing against his former team for the first time, picked up the second assist on the 1-1 Rebels goal at the 5:15 mark.

Red Deer took the lead with a powerplay goal from Colton Bobyk. Brandon Hagel kept the puck in the zone for Jeff de Wit to feed Bobyk for a big blast from the point that earned him his 13th goal of the year at 8:59.

The Rebels expanded their lead when Carter Hart coughed up a rebound that Grayson Pawlenchuk cashed in for his 17th goal of the year. De Wit and Hagel were again with the assists on the 3-1 Rebels goal at the 13:00 mark.

THIRD PERIOD

Hagel, included on the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings released this week, put the Rebels up 4-1 with a beauty of a goal. Hagel took a saucer pass from Pawlenchuk then fought off a hook to beat Hart for his 9th goal of the year. The goal came 4:55 into the period with Austin Strand picking up the second assist.

That would be it for scoring as the Rebels would skate their way to a 4-1 victory.
