Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - The JetHawks proved they could win with pitching on their first road trip, but upon returning home they went back to their old standby- heavy offense. The JetHawks hit three home runs and pounded sixteen hits to lead Lancaster to a 14-5 victory in their home opener against the Lake Elsinore Storm. With High Desert trailing late against Inland Empire, the JetHawks may wake up tomorrow morning to find themselves alone in first place.

The game got off to a rocky start. Lancaster starter Jimmy James walked the first three batters he faced and allowed two runs in the first, but the JetHawks rallied in their half of the inning. Lars Anderson opened the scoring with an RBI double. Zak Farkes hit a three-run home run to give the JetHawks the lead, then Daniel Nava hit a solo blast to put the exclamation point on a five-run inning.

James fought through the tough beginning to get through five innings, allowing four runs but picking up the win. By the time James left the game, the JetHawks had built a comfortable lead. The Storm committed two errors in the third inning, leading to a two-run double by Nava and a two-run single by Anderson to help put the JetHawks into an 11-4 lead.

Richie Lentz and Jason Blackey allowed just one run over the final four innings of relief to seal the win. Anderson led the offense with three hits and three runs driven in. Nava had three hits and four RBI. Farkes had two hits and scored a career high four runs, while Reid Engel extended his season-starting hitting streak to eight straight.

The JetHawks continue the homestand Friday night against Lake Elsinore. Chris Jones (1-0) will start for Lancaster against the Storm's Drew Miller (0-0). The game starts at 7:00 with the pre-game show on Magic 1340 and www.JetHawks.com beginning at 6:45. The post-game celebration will be highlighted by the first Friday Night Fireworks Spectacular of the season.

The JetHawks home opener for the 2008 season at Clear Channel Stadium takes place on April 10 against the Lake Elsinore Storm. Tremendous ticket packages starting at only $56 are available for purchase now by calling 661.726.5400.
