FC Cincinnati News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Playing in their first home match in nearly a month, FC Cincinnati returned to action at Nippert Stadium with 14,157 in attendance and remained undefeated in five contests following a 1-1 tie to Rochester Rhinos Wednesday night.

"I just think that we have had a bit of a break," said Head Coach John Harkes. "It's not an excuse or anything but we start to find a rhythm. At the end of the day it's about this point in the season, how getting a point is a great sign of character. I am so proud of them. We continue to grow, continue to get points, continue to push."

Defender Austin Berry put the Orange and Blue ahead 1-0 in the 27th minute, heading in a cross from Tyler Polak for the hometown hero's third goal of the season and Polak's second assist on the year.

However, after a stoppage in play due to a collision between Omar Cummings and Rhino goalkeeper, Tomas Gomez, Rochester pushed the ball ahead and put away the tying goal in the 42nd minute. Bradley Kamdem Fewo left-footed the ball into the box to Steevan dos Santos, whose one-touch knotted the ledger for the Rhinos.

"They are a big physical team," said Berry. "In the first half, we were still finding our footing a little bit. We have to realize teams are going to come in and do that. They aren't going to let us play," Berry continued.

The physical play continued in the second half with the two teams combining for 17 fouls. The FCC defense held the Rhinos to three shots in the second period and handled a 6-1 Rochester advantage in corner kicks.

With over 14,000 fans in attendance, FCC marked its 13th-straight USL match of over 10,000 fans.

FCC will take a 12-4-7 USL record on the road to face the Eastern Conference-leading New York Red Bulls II Sun., Aug. 28 at 5:30 p.m.
