BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today that Baltimore Orioles right-hander Brad Bergesen returns to Prince George's Stadium Thursday, June 17, as a limited-edition, collectible bobblehead doll presented by Optima Services. The first 1,000 fans ages three and up receive the bobblehead as the Baysox take on the Reading Phillies at 7:05 p.m.
The Orioles fourth round selection in the 2004 First Year Player Draft, Bergesen had an outstanding season for the Baysox in 2008. He went 15-6 with a 3.22 ERA in 23 games as his 15 wins led the Eastern League and set a single season record for the Baysox. Bergesen started the Eastern League All-Star game and was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Year after the season. He was the second Baysox hurler to win the award after John Stephens won it in 2001. He also became the ninth Baysox pitcher to win the Orioles' Jim Palmer Minor League Pitcher of the Year Award.
Bergesen started the 2009 campaign with the class Triple-A Norfolk Tides and made his major league debut April 21. He spent the rest of the season in Baltimore, going 7-5 with a 3.43 ERA in 19 starts.
