BELRIN WALL SHUTS OUT SILVERTIPS

KENT, November - Matt Berlin had 27 saves and Nolan Volcan scored two goals to lead the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 2-0 shutout of the Everett Silvertips in front of 5,018 at accesso ShoWare Center Saturday night.

Berlin made 12 saves in a penalty filled first period to keep the T-Birds in the game as they were outshot 12-4. Berlin had eight saves in the second period and seven saves in the third period to secure his second career shutout. Berlin is now 6-5-0-1.

Seattle (10-9-1-1) broke a scoreless deadlock at 10:25 of the third period when Nolan Volcan banged in a puck from the low slot. Matthew Wedman sent the puck from behind the net to Volcan who beat Everett goalie Dustin Wolf low.

Everett (10-11-1-1) pulled Wolf with under a minute left for an extra attacker. Donovan Neuls knocked down an Everett shot and Volcan sent the loose the puck down the right wing. Volcan chased the puck down and from a sharp angle at the bottom of the right circle hit the empty net as an Everett defenseman dove to try and make the save.

Volcan has four goals in the last two games and 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points this season.

Wolf finished with 27 saves on 28 shots and his record is 2-1-0-0.

The T-Birds next game is a rematch of the WHL Championship series against the Regina Pats on Wednesday at 7:05pm at accesso ShoWare Center.
