Bees Trounce Lugnuts, Win Fourth Straight

(Burlington-IA)- Brennon Lund and Jake Yacinich combined to drive in six runs in a 12-4 win for the Burlington Bees (43-50) over the Lansing Lugnuts (51-42) on Saturday night at Community Field.
The Lansing Lugnuts got off to a quick start on Saturday night. With one out in the top of the first inning, Ryan Metzler walked and later moved to third after a Juan Kelly single. Lansing took the lead thanks to a groundout off the bat of Connor Panas, scoring Metzler, putting the Lugnuts on top, 1-0. Justin Atkinson then hammered a two run home run to left, upping the lead to 3-0.
Michael Hermosillo led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo homer to left, his second of the season, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The Bees went on to take the lead in the second inning. Alexi Rivera led off the inning with a single and then stole second base. After Jared Walsh walk, Tanner Lubach hit into a fielder's choice, putting runners at the corners. Two straight singles from Jake Yacinich and Michael Hermosillo brought in a pair of runs, tying the game at three. Brennon Lund then gave the Bees the lead, grounding a single into right field, scoring Hermosillo.
After Lansing tied the game in the fifth inning, the Bees went on to score eight unanswered runs. Jake Yacinich gave the Bees the lead back in the sixth with a single, scoring Thaiss and Jared Walsh came home on an error, putting the Bees on top, 6-4.
Michael Hermosillo opened the seventh inning with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Lund drove in another run with a single, upping the lead to 7-4. Jordan Serena doubled to left, scoring Lund, making it 8-4. Alexi Rivera smacked his third homer in four games, putting the Bees up 10-4. The Bees went on to score two more runs thanks to RBI singles by Yacinich and Lund as the Bees went on to win, 12-4.
Reliever Aaron Cox (2-1) earned the win while Tom Robson (1-2) was charged with the loss. The Bees and the Lugnuts continue the series on Sunday at 2:00. Luis Pena makes the start for the Bees.
