Bees Shutout in Series Finale

(Beloit-WI) - The Burlington Bees (5-5) lost their second straight game, losing to the Beloit Snappers (6-5), 6-0 on Sunday afternoon at Pohlman Field in Beloit, Wisconsin.

Beloit opened the scoring for the second consecutive day, putting two runs on the board in the bottom of the second inning. With one out, Ryan Howell reached on an infield single and then came home to score when Nick Collins doubled off the wall in left center, giving Beloit a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Jesus Lopez blooped a single to right, scoring Collins, upping the Snappers advantage to 2-0.

The Snappers went on to double their lead in the fouth inning. Brett Siddall, who had five hits on Saturday, singled to lead off the inning. Siddall then scored on a Ryan Howell double to center field, extending the lead to 3-0. The next batter, Nick Collins, doubled to right, scoring Howell, upping the Snappers lead to 4-0.

Beloit sent seven men to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning. After the first out was recorded, Steve Pallares reached on a Bees error and then moved to second on a Trace Loehr single. Back-to-back hit batters issued by Luis Pena scored Pallares, extending Beloit's lead to 5-0. Brett Siddall continued his big weekend, hitting a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Loehr, upping the lead to 6-0.

Beloit starter Boomer Biegalski (1-0) picked up the win while Bees starter Jose Rodriguez (1-1) was charged with the loss. Ranyelmy Alberto had two hits in the loss for the Bees.
