(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (17-27) were held to just one run in a 2-1 loss to the Peoria Chiefs (18-28) on Friday night at Community Field.

The Bees opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Brennon Lund started the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run to right field, his second of the year, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead. John Schuknecht and Roberto Baldoquin then followed with singles but the Bees could not cash in, stranding a pair of baserunners.

Peoria tied the game in the third inning. With two outs, Stefan Trosclair reached on an infield single. Andrew Young lifted a double to right field, scoring Trosclair, tying the game at one. The Chiefs took the lead in the fourth inning. Ryan McCarvel started the inning with a walk and moved to second on a single by the Juan Yepez. Vince Jackson then doubled to right field, scoring McCarvel, giving the Chiefs a 2-1 lead.

The Bees tried to rally in the eighth inning. With two outs, Sam McDonnell doubled to left field. Jeyson Sanchez knocked a single to right but McDonnell was thrown out at the plate to end the inning. Jordan Zimmerman started the ninth with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After a two-out walk put the winning run aboard, Brennon Lund flew out to left field to end the game.

Mike O'Reilly (2-1) allowed just one run in seven innings to earn the win while Joe Gatto (2-4) was charged with the loss. Brady Bowen (2) picked up the save. Bees' outfielder Brennon Lund picked up three hits, finishing the evening a triple shy of the cycle. The Bees and Chiefs continue the series on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. for a doubleheader.
