Bees Edged by Beloit for Third Straight Loss

(Burlington-IA) - The Burlington Bees (6-9) saw a slim one run lead slip away in a 4-3 loss to the Beloit Snapper (9-7) on Friday night at Community Field in Burlington.
Beloit grabbed the lead first, putting a run on the board in the bottom of the third inning. After Trace Loehr reached on a fielding error, Sky Bolt got his big night started by sending a triple to the right field corner, scoring Loehr, giving the Snappers a 1-0 lead.
It didn't take long for the Bees to answer as they Bees came back to get two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With one out, Ranyelmy Alberto picked up the first of his two hits on the night, singling to left for the first hit of the game for the Bees. Brendon Sanger then reached on an infield single, putting runners at first and second with one out. Juan Moreno then lined a double to left, scoring two runs, giving the Bees a 2-1 lead.
The Bees added to their lead in the fifth inning. Michael Pierson started the frame with a bunt single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Josh Delph. The next batter, Zach Welz, lined a single to center, extending his hitting streak to six games, upping the Bees lead to 3-1.
After Beloit pulled to within a run, Skye Bolt put the Snappers back in front, this time for good. With runners at first and second and one out, Bolt doubled to right center, scoring two runs, giving Beloit the 4-3 lead.
Beloit reliever Evan Manarino (1-0) picked up the win while Luis Pena (0-1) was charged with the loss. Jared Lyons (1) notched the save for Beloit. The Bees and Snappers continue the series on Saturday at 5:00 pm at Community Field. The Bees will have Joe Gatto on the hill against Jesus Zambrono.
