Burlington Bees News Release

(Burlington-IA)- The Burlington Bees (54-75) suffered a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Quad Cities River Bandits (85-46) on Monday night at Community Field.

After escaping trouble in the first inning, Keynan Middleton walked the first two hitters he faced to open the second inning. With Kristian Trompiz and Garrett Stubbs at first and second base, Luis Reynoso dropped down a sacrifice bunt, advancing the runners 90 feet. Just like Sunday's game, Wander Franco opened the scoring, driving in Garrett Stubbs with a groundout, putting the River Bandits on top, 1-0.

Kristian Tropmiz started the top of the fourth inning by belting his sixth home run on the season, his third against the Bees, upping the River Bandits' lead to 2-0. After a walk and a single, Bryan Muniz homered to left field, a three run shot, extending Quad Cities' lead to 5-0.

The Bees would eventually get on the board in the seventh, scoring a pair of runs thanks to a wild pitch and an Ayendy Perez ground out, cutting the deficit to 5-2. The Bees could not climb any closer as Jacob Dorris shut the Bees down in the eighth and the ninth innings.

Quad Cities' starting pitcher, Dean Deetz (4-1) pitched five shutout innings, earning the win while Bees' starter Keynan Middleton (5-11) was charged with the loss. Jacob Dorris (1) earned the save, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings.

The Burlington Bees and the Quad Cities River Bandits face off for the finale time in 2015, Tuesday night at 6:30, at Community Field, when Justin Anderson of the Bees faces Elieser Hernandez for Quad Cities.
