Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Omaha, NE - The Beef announce today that they have signed former Northwest Missouri State standout Rod Williams to its roster. Williams, a Grandview, MO native, is a 2012 graduate of Northwest Missouri State where he played left tackle with the Bearcats from 2009 thru 2012.
In 2009, Williams helped anchor an offensive unit that scored a program record 632 points and paved the way for the nation's second-highest scoring offense (42.13 ppg). Northwest ranked sixth in the nation in total offense (474.27 ypg) and eighth in passing offense (298.93 ypg) that season as the Bearcats went on to be the eventual D2 National Champions. In 2011, Williams was named an All-America by Daktronics/CoSIDA, AP and D2Football.com and was also named Second-Team All-MIAA offensive tackle. He helped pave the way for two running backs to rush for over 2,000 yards and was on line helping the Bearcats lead the nation in scoring averaging over 50 points per game. During the 2012 season, Williams was named First-Team All-MIAA offense tackle and helped lead the team to a 10-3 overall record.
The Beef are excited to bring the Bearcat to the mix of the revamped Beef offense this season. As the Beef are heading out on the road this week with a CIF Northern Division matchup with the Chicago Eagles, Williams is a welcomed newcomer to the team. The Beef then begin a 5 game home stretch featuring 5 games at Ralston Arena in April and May. Tickets are on sale now and you can purchase a 5 game package online at Beeffootball.com or by calling the Beef office at 402-346-BEEF (2333). The Omaha Beef is America's Longest Running Indoor Football team as they are currently in their 17th season of play. For further information, contact Alex Reese at the Beef office.
