Wichita Thunder News Release

Wichita, KS - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced today the re-signing of defenseman Jeremy Beaudry for the 2018-19 season.

"Jeremy had a tremendous rookie season both on and off the ice," stated Head Coach Malcolm Cameron. "He scored some highlight reel goals, had some big hits and was a huge presence in the Wichita community. Jeremy was a great teammate and well respected for both his on-ice play and off-ice community service. We expect he will build on that success again this season."

Beaudry, 24, had an outstanding rookie season for the Thunder. A native of Montmagny, Quebec, the 5-foot-11, 192-pound defenseman finished with 37 points (13g, 24a) in 69 games. He finished tied for sixth in the ECHL for power play goals for a blueliner (6). Beaudry came to Wichita towards the end of the 2016-17 campaign and provided stability on the blue line. He appeared in 14 games that year, recording five points (1g, 4a).

"I'm really happy and excited about going back to Wichita," commented Beaudry. "The last year and a half have been amazing for me. I really loved my time in Kansas. Last year, we had a really great group of guys and it showed on the ice. We had a really good season and made the playoffs. I want to do whatever it takes to make the playoffs again and win the Kelly Cup."

Off the ice, Beaudry was instrumental in leading the community outreach programs for the Thunder. He was named as the ECHL's 2017-18 Community Service Award winner for his efforts supporting community and charitable causes. He became the first Thunder player to win a post-season award since joining the ECHL.

Prior to turning pro, Beaudry spent parts of three seasons with the University of Quebec-Trois-Rivieres. He collected 51 points (19g, 32a) in 64 career games.

Beaudry played parts of two seasons with the QMJHL's Victoriaville Tigres and then split the rest of his junior career between Sherbrooke, Quebec and Cape Breton. He had a breakout year in 2013-14, where had career-highs in goals (19), assists (34) and points (53).
